Why you don’t need to lose weight for a photo session

Another common reason women won’t get in front of the camera, is they think they need to lose weight. Yes, all body types think this.

But it’s only an excuse!

What we think about our weight vs what others think

The problem is that your loved ones don’t think this of you. They won’t look at a photo and think, “Mom needed to get in shape.” Instead, they’ll see it and say, “I love my mom. I’m glad I have this to remember her by.”

Think on that.

Sometimes doing something different can help what you think of how you look.

A daughter’s perspective on her mom’s weight

This mom had her three-year-old change what she’s thinking about herself and the weight she has to lose. I dare you not to be impacted by her words.

I’ve been shooting for #bodyneutrality for so long that it shocked me when I vitally felt #bodypositivity for the first time since being in this different shape of mine. It was lovely and pleasant and I’m thrilled to see more and more evidence of shame leaving my life. #selflove #loveyourself#fromthemouthofbabes#momsoftiktok#doitfat#healing

Stay in the moment

Have you ever looked through your family’s photos and wondered where Aunt Matilda was, or why there were no photos of your mom? Don’t replicate that. Instead, focus on who you are right now.

Are you allowing what you think of yourself to keep you from being remembered generations from now?

Give yourself permission to be found in photos–even if your body isn’t perfect.
